Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a diagnostic method itself - the energy diagnosis. This is based on the assumption that everything that is inside the body is mirrored on the outside. The diagnosis is based on anamnesis (medical history and habits of the animals), pulse palpation, observation of the tongue and palpation of specific energy points of diagnosis, which allows us to evaluate what imbalances or blockages the body energy responsible for the appearance of states of illness or pain.

In addition, it is also important to know what medications that may have been prescribed and complementary exams that have been previously performed (ex: tests, x-rays, etc.) and their medical and veterinary reports, if any, both for any earlier diseases and for the one of the moment. It is also important to know whether there were any pre-hospital situations.

Consultations are practiced at home and in various clinics and veterinary hospitals in the municipalities of Cascais, Oeiras and Lisbon.

The first consultation has usually a minimum of one hour. The treatment protocol - the type of therapy, duration of sessions, number and scheduling of the sessions - for each clinical case, is prepared based on the first visit.

The number of treatment sessions depends on the condition of the animal, disease severity and duration of, and treatment can vary between 1 and 12 sessions. For the acute clinical cases sessions are usually daily, every other day or twice a week, and for chronic cases, there must be one or two sessions per week at baseline, spacing the sessions in time as the animal improves.

A positive response to acupuncture is generally observed up to 3rd or 4th session of treatment and the maximum response is usually seen between the 4th and the 8th sessions of treatment
